Sick of culture wars and terrible decisions from the CFISD school board? So are we! It's time to focus on student safety and success, fiscal responsibility, and respect for all students, educators, and stakeholders. Join us to elect long-time educators Kendra Camarena, Lesley Guilmart, and Dr. Cleveland Lane, Jr.!
Kendra is a public servant through and through. She worked for years as a public educator before transitioning to Harris County, where she leads economic development and partnership engagement. As a parent of a current CFISD student, she cares deeply about the effectiveness of our schools, and she believes better communication and decision-making can help ensure that all voices are heard and that policies serve the greater good of the entire district.
"I'm an advocate, educator, and parent," says Kendra, "who believes in strong schools, open communication, and putting students first. Our community deserves a board that listens, leads with transparency, and works for everyone — students, staff, and families."
Kendra's top priorities include safety, fiscal responsibility, and teacher and student success.
If you've met Lesley, you know that she's a teacher to her core. She is a former CFISD educator and former instructional leader for the Harris County Department of Education, and she is currently transitioning to a new role in higher education. And she doesn't just teach; she also advocates for for students, teachers, and staff as the President of the non-profit Cypress Families for Public Schools. Lesley is the parent of two current CFISD students, so her investment in CFISD runs deep.
Lesley believes her education background and work with community stakeholders provide a broad perspective on the needs of the district, and she pledges to “serve every child and every community with laser focus on student well-being and achievement while maintaining fiscal responsibility."
Lesley's top priorities include student safety and success, smart financial decision-making, and respect for all stakeholders.
Cleveland's dedication to education shines bright! He has a strong science background, and as an Associate Professor of Practice at Prairie View A&M University, he prepares future science educators and pre-health professionals for their future careers. He is the parent of two current CFISD students and a CFISD grad, and he is passionate about the academic and social development of the community’s youth.
Cleveland is running for school board to positively impact the educational landscape. "I believe a key role of a school board trustee is to support the district in preparing students to be 21st-century global learners with the ability to evaluate data and operate with cross-cultural thinking and technological literacy," he explains.
Cleveland's top priorities include academic success, safety, and a return to trust and dignity for our educators.
Because CFISD has never had a more crucial school board election, we must raise at least $100,000 to defeat the opposition and save CFISD. Every penny counts, and you can make a difference!
